Home

I'm home at Vigra. I'm sitting in my chair in front of my TV. Sitting here with a little strange feeling. Is the three months in the US really over? I haven't really landed yet, a lot of thoughts are going around in my mind. I had a really nice evening with my family, we had a nice supper with good Norwegian food. SO good to see them!! I didn't get very much sleep on any of the flights, so I'm quite tired, and looking forward to crawl into my own bed and under my duvet:)

It's been almost three really good months, with a lot of fun and exciting things, and some boring things, and many interesting things. I think the best of everything was the days at the shelter in Chicago, helping to give out food or serve dinner to poor and homeless people, and to share God's love with them, and to be a part of His love for these people. He loves them just as much as he loves me and you!

There is no place like home! Away is good, but home is best!!

Cornfields and smalltown

My second last stop on this almost three months long trip to America was with some relatives that lives in a small town called Kerkhoven. It's a nice little place, surrounded by huge cornfields.
It became some nice, relaxing days with not too much program. The first day I visited Clara, my oldest relative here in America, her parents came from Norway and settled here in Minnesota in those days...Really nice to see her!

Other things: Me and Ken went to this car and tractor museum, that had some really nice stuff.

On Thursday afternoon, before the thunderstorm we went to this car race. It was really fun to watch, different types of cars to compete in the different rounds. And it made my day when one of them touched this other car, tipped over and rolled a couple of meters and ended up on the roof. Luckily the driver was not hurt very bad.

I ended my stay there with a lunch together with Clara and the whole Janssen-family, plus Richard and Leslie, some other relatives, that I went back to Minneapolis with, who will take me to the airport on Monday. Yes, this time I'm flying home to Norway!!
I had about two days at their home on the shore of lake Minnetonka. We went cruising on the lake in their boat, relaxed and I drove a $100,000 Mercedes convertable:D

"Uuuuuooooi"

DSCN6772 On our way home from a car race we were driving towards a wall of darkness and thunder. It was so fascinating to watch the lightning in the skies! When we came home Ken said: "Grab the jackets in the back, we're going to the basement." I thought he was kidding, but he then he said: "I heard the siren, and then we have to go straight down there, I'm not kidding! The siren is a tornado-warning." So we went down and sat on some chairs with the radio on so we could hear news about how the storm was moving. It was a new, kind of interesting experience! The storm was moving south of Kerkhoven, so the house was not ripped up by any tornado or hit by any lightning and we didn't have to sit there for very long.

In the country

After living in cities, suburbs or nice neighborhoods, I came to the countryside on Thursday afternoon where Auni and her family, Bruce, Katie, Chloe and Cale, lives. And this is real countryside, with the next neighbor not too close and with a LOT of fields around. It's been nice to be here, kind of the things I'm used to, with some forest and a pond near by and without this model of a sidewalk which has a certain distance from the road with grass in between. I've had really fun with the kids here, they're really fun:)

It was a real kick to shoot with a shotgun! Later that day I went for a walk, trying to find and shoot the skunk that had sprayed around the house. I think I hit a turtle in the pond nearby instead..

Last day

While the rest of the Mueller-family were busy with their stuff, I took another trip down to Hollywood.

When I wanted to go home it was supposed to be as easy as it was to go there. But it wasn't. Instead I got to experience a little warm American culture:) When I came to the train station, I came just before the train, so I ran to the platform, but it was on the wrong track purchased a ticket, which I had to do before I entered the train. So I ran to the ticket-machine, but at the time I had bought the ticket, the train was gone, so I had to wait for about 30 minutes. A train came on the time that my train was scheduled to leave, so I entered. But after a while, when they announced that it was 30 minutes to next station, and that station was not mine, and we were supposed to arrive at my station in 15 minutes, I started to think I was in the wrong train. So I asked a man, and I was. But the nice thing was that I asked this man and suddenly 6-7 people around started to talk, trying to help me find the best solution, so I had some nice conversations:) And after some time waiting at a station, Blake came and picked me up.

Tomorrow I will take off and head for Minneapolis for a night. Thursday me, Derek, Regan and Justus will drive to meet Auni and her kids, and I will go with them to their home in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Days of FUN!

The last two days have been really long and REALLY fun!

Disneyland

Friday morning me, Blake and his youngest daughter Kerstin hit the road at 6 in the morning to get a long good day in Disneyland. And that was how the day turned out to be:D Here some pictures from that day:)

The pictures do not tell much of how fun the day was, since it was mostly roller coasters.

Universal Studios

Today I "bumped" into Finni at Universal Studios and some friends of his, so I went there together with them:D What a small world! The main attraction there is the Studio tour, a tour around to see the different outdoor scenes they uses for different movies and series. Some of you might recognize the cars used in "The Fast And The Furious - Tokyo Drift", the "New York-street" or the neighborhood where Gabrielle Solis, Bree Van De Kamp and the rest of the Desperate Housewives lives. We also saw a real plane crashed, to be used in movies!
